Laura Thurston assists clients with their Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution issues.

Laura provides a strategic and direct approach in resolving legal issues. Laura represents business owners, private clients, property investors and developers in a wide variety of disputes. 

Laura particularly enjoys the demands of larger complex commercial litigation which requires intricate strategic planning, detailed legal knowledge and ongoing court appearances. She advises clients in matters in all State and Federal Courts, tribunals and in private forums such as arbitrations.

Business Owners and Individuals – Advice and Disputes

Advising and representing:

  • Directors, shareholders, guarantors and business people in relation to recovering, and resisting claims for payments due under contracts, with associated bankruptcy and insolvency matters

  • Directors, shareholders and partners in relation to allegations of breach of directors and or partnership duties and Corporations Act disputes

  • Business owners and private clients in relation to breaches of sale of business agreements, breaches of contract, breaches of vendor finance agreements, misleading and deceptive conduct claims and breaches of the Trade Practices Act and Australian Consumer Law

  • Franchisees and franchisors in relation to allegations of breach of franchise agreements, franchising code of conduct and misleading and deceptive conduct.

Property - Advice and Disputes

Advising and representing:

  • Builders and owners in relation to building and construction disputes, including Construction Contract Act Adjudications

  • Owners on mortgage, caveat, and easement disputes

  • Representing buyers and sellers in relation to default and termination disputes

  • Landlords and tenants in relation to the make good of leased premises and breaches of commercial and residential leases.
