Catriona assists clients in the areas of Commercial Litigation / Dispute Resolution.

As a business owner and property investor as well as a lawyer, Catriona is able to understand your issues from more than a legal perspective. From a background that has included working in mining camps in the Pilbara to managing bars and restaurants, Catriona brings a depth of practical as well as legal experience to assist you with your business or particular situation.

Catriona is actively involved in both the business and legal professions, as a committee member of the Piddington Society and the Western Suburbs Business Association, and a regular presenter to legal profession and business groups. Her practical involvement in the local business community is assisted by an academic background and experience including two first class honours degrees, working for the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia, working for the Chief Justice of Western Australia and teaching at Murdoch Law School for over 10 years.

Catriona has a particular interest in finding new ways to increase efficiency of client services in the legal profession. Catriona is the founding co-chair of the national College of Law’s Asia Pacific Centre for Legal Innovation, which brings together thought leaders throughout Australia, New Zealand and the United States to implement national and international trends in innovation.

  • Franchising advice and disputes including advising on the recent introduction of Schoffer (ride-sharing service) to the Australian market

  • Construction, including Construction Contract Act claims, advice and representation in the Building Commission and the State Administrative Tribunal

  • Property, including disagreements over leases, Offer & Acceptance documents, and other contracts

  • Consumer law claims, such as misleading and deceptive conduct

  • Restraint of trade and breaches of non-competition agreements

  • General contract disputes

Business Owners - Employment Law

  • Advice on how to manage your workforce and reduce your risk across a variety of areas

  • Unfair dismissal and general protection claims including successfully defending claims at appellate level

  • Advice and representation in State tribunals

Hospitality and Liquor Licensing

  • Applications for all liquor licences, from small bars to large national liquor stores including the recent introduction to Australia of the international Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurants

  • Special licences for specific events or requirements such as Special Facility Licences, Extended Trading Permits, Occasional Licences
